This is another restaurant that we always stop for lunch on our way to Hua Hin. If you drives from Bangkok, keep left when you see the sign to Cha-Am. Then, you drive on that road until you see the sign for "Cha-Am Beach". At that red light, make a left turn to Cha-Am Beach. Once you reach the beach, you will need to make a left turn again. After that, there should be a sign for the restaurant. If you get lost, the shop owner nearby should be able to tell you the direction from there.
Hoy-Jor (Bean curd skin wrapped with crab meat) is a dish that is very well prepared. The outside skin is crispy while the inside can maintain the moisture of the crab meat. We like Hoy-Jor at this restaurant since they don't mix lots of small pieces of pork fat to crab meat like other restaurants do nowadays.
Another dish that I would recommend is fried rice with crab meat and crab roe. The fried rice here has a lot of big chunks of crab meat as well as crab roe. The rice texture is not too moist which is the way it should be.
The dish below is called Pra-Kao-Rad-Prik (Fried grouper with separated spicy chilli sauce). The fish was fried perfectly. The fish skin is crispy while the meat is properly cooked. If the meat is overcooked, it will ruin the taste of a fish meat. I heard from someone that if you want to check whether the restaurant used the lived fish or dead fish for your dish, you can check from the fish's fins position. If the fin flips back to the head direction meaning they use lived fish to cook your dish.
The sauce has a strong flavor and very spicy. IMHO, this is the best place to eat fish this style. This is the original flavor of the fish with spicy chilli sauce. To soften the strong flavor of the chilli, you may need to eat it with a steamed rice.
This restaurant is also famous for blue crab meat. Don't miss a chance to try the unshelled blue crab legs. There are several ways to cook them. If you want to enjoy the sweet crab meat, I would recommend steamed crab legs. The meat is so fresh. The good thing is you don't need to crack the crab shell yourself.
If you like the taste of curry sauce, I would recommend Kam-Pu-Pad-Pong-Ka-Ree (Stired fired crab legs with curry power and green onions). Again, this dish goes very well with a steamed rice. The sauce is not too sweet and not too spicy.
For those who love deep fried seafood, I would recommend Kam-Pu-Choop-Pang-Tod (Batter fried crab legs or tempura crab legs). To enjoy this dish, you should dip it with both seafood sauce (spicy chilli sauce) and plum sauce.
For those who love clams, do not miss a chance to try Hoy-Kow (White clam). There are several ways to cook the white clam. The one we ordered is called "Hoy-Kow-Pad-Prik-Pow" or "Stir fried white clam in chilli paste".
For the overall , we are satisfied with the high quality of seafood here. They are fresh and well prepared. The price may be a little bit higher than the restaurant nearby but it is really worth the price.
