Eating in Macau: Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei & Alorcha

We spotted this small shop while we went to visit Taipa Village. This place was not in our plan initially since we planned to go to Alorcha for a dinner tonight. Anyway, we have to give it a try after we saw a long long queue waiting in front of this eating place.

After we scanned very quickly through their menus, we decided to order the pork chop bun, a bowl of fried fish ball, and a chicken wing noodle soup. The pork chop bun tastes quite good. The meat is tender and the bun is soft but crispy on the outside skin.

The fried fish ball come with a special sauce, which tastes similar to curry sauce. The meat of the fish ball is so plump and the sauce has a unique flavour.

The chicken wing was fried first before they were cooked in the soup. They used the thin noodle here so it goes very well with the soup and the chicken. The overall tastes of the dishes we ordered are above average except the atmosphere of the place that may not look very hygienic.

Alorcha is located very closed to A-Ma Temple. The dinner time will be served from 18:30 pm until 11:00 pm. It is recommended to reserve a table in advance if you don't want to wait in a queue. This is a very popular restaurant among tourists and the local people.

Once we were seated at our table, a basket of breads with a butter will be served. The bread here is one of my favourite bread. It is not too soft but it has chewey texture and crispy on the outside skin. We ordered only two dishes since we are not that hungry. It is only three hours apart from our previous meal.

For the drink, we ordered a house punch which we couldn't recall the name of it but it tastes really good and refreshing.

This dish called "Clams in garlic sauce". The taste of the soup is so wonderful. It is packed with strong flavours, garlic and herbs. We dipped the bread in a soup and eat it together with a clam.

The second dish is called "African Chicken". I think it is a signature dish at the restaurant. The sauce is redolent and tasty. This dish is served with french fries, which goes quite well with the sauce.

We finished our meal tonight with a dessert, which was recommended by our waiter. I think it is called "Serradura". It is a macanese pudding topped with biscuit crumbs. A perfect dessert to end this meal.

  2. Which place are you interested? Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei or Alorcha? Both of them are in Macau. If you mean Alorcha, we took a taxi from our hotel (the venetian) to this place. The taxi fare shouldn't be more than 40 HKD.
