Gogyo Ramen at Kyoto

We went to Gogyo for our lunch after taking a walk at Nishiki Market in Kyoto. This branch is located on Yanaginobanba-dori.

The decoration of this shop is in contemporary style. If you come for lunch, make sure you arrive before 15:30 p.m.

Gogyo offers lunch set during lunch. First, you pick the type of the soup and then the side dish. Or you can order a bowl of ramen separately. There is no english menu here. We are lucky that there is a waiter who can speak very good english at this ramen shop.

Finally, we decided to order shoyu ramen and kogashi miso ramen. The set comes with a potato salad. We opt for chashu rice for a side dish.

The shoyu ramen is tasty already but it may be lighter than kogashi miso ramen. If you don't like tonkotsu ramen, I would recommend this one. The texture of the noodle at Gogyo is firm and nice.

Kogashi miso ramen is really tasty. The dark colour of the soup may not look appealing but once you taste it, you don't want to put down your chopsticks.

The size of 1 portion is very big so it's probably better to share. However, you need to order one more side dish from the menu if you plan to do so. The shachu rice tastes good but we are not really impress much with the gyoza here. I wish that they fry the gyoza until the skin is crispy.

The bill for the whole meal is less than 2,500 yen. The price for dinner time is slightly higher than lunch time.
