Eating in Nagoya: Unagi Horaiken & JR Nagoya Station

We started our first meal in Japan by visiting a very famous restaurant in Nagoya. This restaurant is specializing in Unagi. The branch we went is located at Matsuzakaya Shopping Mall near sakae area. We took a subway from JR Nagoya station to Sakae station.

You may end up waiting in a queue if you arrive here after 11:30 am. We order the famous "Hitsu-mabushi". An eating instructions provided on the table will guide you on how to enjoy this dish.

The grilled unagi has a wonderful smell, which you can't resist to try more than one bite. First, we tastes the dish as-is, without adding any flovors to it. The second way to enjoy it, you can try to add seasonings such as a little bit of wasabi, green onion, and shredded seaweed.

The third way would be to pour the broth over with all the seasonings. The last would be to enjoy it with the way your like most.

We spot this place while we are waiting for our train to Takayama. Nagoya is well known for their chickens. At first, we would like to try Nagoya Cochin Chickens. But after we walked pass this Izakaya place, we decide we are going to have a small meal here.

Their ramen dishes look so good but we didn't order it since we are not fully digested from the first place. We ordered a gyoza and a chicken wing.

The wing is so crispy and very juicy. You only need to dip the wing in a salt that provided on the plate. A gyoza tastes good but the skin is not that crispy as the way we like it. Anyway, it tastes better than gyoza we had in Thailand.
